10: Purple Sand Beach
Purple Beach is located in California (USA), it is called Pfeiffer Beach. Purple color comes from manganese garnet deposits found in the adjoining rocks. The source is the large deposits of quartz and manganese garnet arising in the surrounding hills washed from the flow to its final resting place on the Pacific.
9: Red Sand Beach
There are few red beaches in the world. They can be found in Hawaii (USA), Rabida Island (Galapagos)& Santorini (Greece). Red sand is the result of the surrounding ironic red and black lava rocks left over from ancient volcanic activity, which erupted and substantially shaped red beach.
8: Yellow Sand Beach
Yellow send can be found in most beaches around the world. It is the result of iron impurities within the quartz crystals, these components giving a deep yellow color on the beach sand. Yellow sand beaches offer safe swimming and surf fishing opportunities to enjoy.
7: Green Sand Beach
Papakolea Beach is more commonly referred to as Green Sand Beach. The sand is made of tiny olivine crystals from the surrounding lava rocks that are trapped in the Pu'u Mahana cinder cone of Mahana Bay water. The density of the olivine crystals keeps them from tide washed, resulting in a striking olive green accretion along the shoreline.
6: Pink Sand Beach
Pink beach is mixed with fine grains from broken red coral reefs. Pink sand beaches can be found on Harbour Island Bahamas Beach, Surfer's Beach, Winding Bay Beach, Bermuda Beach, Komodo Island Beach, Santa Cruz Island Beach, Budelli Island Beach, Elafonisi beach and French Leave Beach.
5: Brown Sand Beach
Brown sand beach can be seen few miles away from San Francisco, in the south of Pacifica, California, the beach is very famous and known as Rockaway Beach. It is the largest metropolitan beach in the United States. Rockaway Beach sands have a stunning brown color which some people are so reminiscent of chocolate.
4: Orange Sand Beach
Orange sand is an exclusive blend of orange limestone, crushed shells, and other volcanic deposits. San Blas Beach (Malta) and Porto Ferro, Sardinia (Italy) are very famous for their orange colored sand, both of these islands are volcanic in nature, protruding from the floor of the Mediterranean at the southern tip of Italy.
3: Gray Sand Beach
Ho’okena, Kahaluu and Honomalino are three of the largest and most popular grey sand beaches. Gray colored sand is the result of erosion of gray shale rocks. Some other island beaches are also in the definition of grey sand beach, where black and dark brown fossil fragments mixed with the white quartz sand and create a dark gray to almost black beach.
2: Black Sand Beach
Black sand beaches is result of an island's explosive volcanic past, the rich color is a mixture of iron, titanium, and several volcanic materials. The skin of the lava flow is instantly cooled as it flows into the water, and then blew up when the ocean water flashes into steam. Black sand beach can be found in Waipio Beach, Pololu Beach, Punaluu Beach and Muriwai Beach.

White Sand Beach is considered as the most romantic beach in the world. White sand is comprised of pure particles of quartz. Crescent Beach, Hyams Beach, Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach, Fort Walton Beach, Destin beaches, Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, Fort Myers Beach, Lido Key Beach, Longboat Key Beach, Wineglass bay Beach, Rabbit Beach and Maldives Beach are famous white sand beaches.
